Institute for Multimedia Literacy

 
Founded in 1998 by the University of Southern California’s Dean of the School of Cinematic Arts Elizabeth Daley in conversation with filmmaker George Lucas, the Institute for Multimedia Literacy is an organized research unit dedicated to developing educational programs and conducting research on the changing nature of literacy in a networked culture. The IML’s educational programs promote effective and expressive communication and scholarly production through the use of multiple media applications and tools. The IML also supports faculty-directed research that seeks to transform the nature of scholarship within the disciplines.
   

Center for Scholarly Technology

 
The Center for Scholarly Technology (CST) is a group within the Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) unit of Information Technology Services (ITS) that facilitates the use of technology to enhance learner-centered education on-campus and at a distance.CST supports faculty and IT managers who are incorporating educational technologies to enhance courses and academic programs at USC.CST offers design and assessment services, learning management system (Blackboard) support, training and workshops, and presentations and events. We also manage specialized technology for targeted teaching strategies such as Second Life for immersive learning experiences, in-class polling for formative assessment, and iTunes and YouTube for rich-media distribution.

Classroom AV/IT Support

 
CTS technicians can help with any technology needs in the classroom. If you are experiencing any problems with your laptop, network connectivity or any other AV equipment in your classroom, we are here to help. We can meet and orient you to your classroom technology before your class begins for the semester. Also, we offer laptop and LCD projector checkout services to all College faculty.

The College Technology Services application development team is responsible for the creation and maintenance of Web based applications to enable higher productivity throughout the USC College of Letters, Arts & Sciences. College Wiki

 
CTS offers a wiki server where faculty and staff can setup a wiki space.  A wiki is an easy-to-use, secure and collaborative web-based platform.  Wikis have been used extensively in the College, some examples:  managing courses, faculty search committees, research groups, journal clubs, new faculty orientation and student projects.
